Experience Rowing Through Learn to Row!We invite you to experience the joy of rowing with Wichita Rowing Association's instruction on the basics. First, practice on the rowing machine. Then, out to the river where you will practice sculling on dock rowers and take a seat in a boat to learn how to scull on the water. Our experienced coaches will guide you through every step of the way, helping you to develop the balance, comfort and rhythm of rowing. |

Who can join?
The minimum age for participation is 14. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. A completed swimtest is also required, or a life vest must be worn. Class Type: Discovery Cost: $40 2-hour session to learn if Rowing is for you! Meet our Coaches at the boathouse for a comprehensive view of the sport of rowing. Review the equipment and try out our rowing ergs. Instruction on the rowing stroke and boat handling will be included. Meet fellow rowers and understand the steps to become and accomplished rower and sculler.
Class Type: Refresher Cost: $150 2 hour session for Club members, LTR graduates, new members or rusty former collegiate rowers can sharpen their skills. Coaches will review current performance and initiate exercises and drills to improve performance and form crews for ongoing practices and races.
Class Type: Learn To Row Cost: $150 2 hour sessions on 5 days program. This includes a comprehensive program to take you from beginner to confident Rower or Sculler. Starting on land with the rowing machine to understand the rowing motion to practice in the club racing shells. The step by step instruction will build confidence and skills. Learn all the terminology and best practices of boat handling. This enjoyable class can start you on a lifetime of health and fitness.

By registering, participants are agreeing that they are able to accomplish the following skills: tread water for 5 minutes; swim 50 m (two laps of a pool); lift 30 pounds overhead; and squat, bend, and reach with full range of motion. If you have concerns regarding any of these requirements, please contact the instructor before registering.

What you need before you row: You will need to sign a waiver prior to your first class. See the box below titled "What to Bring" for information and links to these forms. Because of this paperwork it's good to show up a few minutes early the first day, if possible.
What To Wear?We recommend comfortable, but not baggy, athletic clothes. And shoes that you can slip in and out of at easily on the dock.CancellationsCancellation due to weather WRA makes every effort to provide you with a safe and enjoyable class at the planned time. However, sometimes weather or river conditions force us to reschedule on short notice. This is an outdoor sport and we will conduct the class in any weather except thunderstorms, very high winds or flooding of the river. If this happens we’ll work with you to make up the class at a time that fits your schedule. The instructor will contact you via email if the class needs to be cancelled due to weather.
